I went into Hard Mode and realized there were some zombies I simply could not outrun or shake. Not even with the Doomslayer perk and the blue speed cola. I needed some additional speed to get away from the zombies. I was able to do this by holding the shift key and sprinting and sometimes needed to jump by hitting the space bar. The extra boost in speed you get from sprinting is enough to get away from the zombies. You just have to make sure to turn off Shift Lock in your settings.
