Rock Of Ages - Obstacle Course: Pompeii
1Hello Ghouls, Ghosts and Themlins,
This video covers the Obstacle Course level for Pompeii on normal difficulty. This map is pretty much a giant zig-zag pattern down a volcano leading to a winding turn right before the castle. The course is interrupted with lava flows periodically that have miniature ramps so you can jump over the lava. If you fall in, hurry and get out as the lava damages boulders and slows them down, making you lose valuable time! The map is much easier than it looks as there is a pretty decent shortcut you can take right near the beginning of the level which can easily let you skip a majority of the map.
The third lava flow ramp area, the spot that has a small wall to the left of the course, is the shortcut. When you get to the ramp here, just jump out towards the open air to your left so your boulder will fall into a lower part of the map. Be careful with this trick though as it's really easy to overestimate the amount of momentum needed to clear the wall in the immediate road below you and completely fly off course!
We definitely recommend the Armored boulder for this map so your boulder doesn't break as quickly when you accidentally fall into the lava, like we did a few times. The Armored boulder also has enough strength to withstand most attacks from the defenses placed around the map. The Block Of Ages boulder can also be used here but it is a little more fragile than the Armored boulder and much harder to navigate with so it's not the best choice for this map.
