A 2D, Top Down, Dungeon Crawler with Procedural Generation, The Curse Of Yendor is a Very Approachable Rogue Like.
Items are automatically picked up as you walk over them, and, as opposed to many other RogueLikes, there is little inventory management. Food is a bar you fill, as is health and mana. You grab picks as you walk over them, using them as needed to Smash through Walls, and automatically toss them when they break, and keys are listed by the amount you have. This is among the most Approachable RogueLikes I have ever played.
And the world of The Curse Of Yendor changes as you Advance through it, Monsters spawn and populate, Traps activate, and Food is ticking down every step. It keeps you moving, deciding if you should look around for more loot/treasure, or to push for the stair.
There are Magic Jewels you can find that grant permanent abilities like Waterwalking, Trap Avoidance, Faster Mana Regeneration, stuff like that. Also, you can push around a Giant Lightning Orb like thing, and eventually Stuff it into a hole for Power; I'm not kidding. I guess you're using it to make some kind of wish?
Environmental Effects Abound in the game, from trees, mushrooms, and doors you can Ignite and Burn Down, Water you can Freeze to walk over, and even walls you can Tunnel through or Collapse with an Earthquake!
The Curse Of Yendor is Full of all that Turn Based, Rogue Like, Top-Down Goodness, like Procedural World Generation, and Permadeath, if you wish it. That's right, you can turn the Perma Death off in this one. Lots of difficulty options too, I'm rolling on Hard, Permadeath Style; roll with me?
