Windstorm

(January 12, 2021)
It was a windy night, when I got home from work and went to sleep.

(January 13, 2021)
I suddenly woke up at 7 AM to a crash next to the house. A tree fell over our fence and damaged a neighbors gazebo, (the second house on the left). The power line went down with it, and lights sparked from the cables. The electricity was out. My mom and sister went downstairs in my room. We saw the trees tipping in our yard. Then we retreated to the downstairs living room next to the fireplace. A second tree fell over our fence and landed on the roof of a newly built house (the first house on the right), damaging it, no one lives there yet, but construction workers own it currently. Then a third tree fell over our fence again and damaged another neighbors gazebo and their shed, (the first house on the left). These three trees fell with the roots pulled out. There was one tree left standing in our yard. The wind had 71 mph gusts. My mom called my dad over from work, who bought some propane tanks for a stove. My mom called Avista and House Insurance, but it will take a few days for them to arrive. Later we went to my aunts’ house where we ate dinner and charged our devices. Then we went home and slept by the lit fireplace.

(January 14, 2021)
The four of us went to a hotel to spend in for two nights. The stay is covered by my dad’s work company.

(January 17, 2021)
I went to work. The power was restored at 4pm. Avista replaced the power cable with a new one. Surprisingly the internet cable was intact, even though a tree pulled it down.

(February 12, 2021)
We removed all the tree branches, but we had to wait for the ground to unfreeze before the tree roots and trunks could be removed.

(February 13, 2021)
The construction workers on the right had the tree cut down in their front yard.

(February 26, 2021)
We got money from an insurance company that should cover the removal of the three tree roots.

(March 2, 2021)
We had the fourth tree in our yard cut and one tree root grinded down. This costed $1,700.

(March 7, 2021)
My dad dissembled the metal gazebo in the neighbors yard so their would be passage for a vehicle. We got $44.50 for recycling the scrap metal and aluminum metal.

(March 11, 2021)
A tree removal crew removed the remaining two tree roots and trunks. This costed $2500.

(March 18, 2021)
The left side of the fence is rebuilt.

(March 19, 2021)
A neighbor helped dispose of the rotted 6 year old fence.

(March 20, 2021)
We bought plastic fences for the back fence.

(March 27, 2021)
The right side fence is rebuilt.

(March 31, 2021)
The back side fence is rebuilt.
It costed $1,500 for fences, fence posts, concrete bags, soil bags.

(May 14, 2021)
This is our yard now $5,700 later. All the fences are fixed. The yard is cleaned up. The ground is leveled with soil.

(April 6, 2021)
The construction workers removed the damaged roof section.

(May 21, 2021)
The construction workers rebuilt the frame of the roof.

(May 27, 2021)
The construction workers rebuilt the roof.

(May 28, 2021)
The second neighbor on the left rebuilt their gazebo. Their fence is still bent.

(June 3, 2021)
The first neighbor on the left got people to drill the concrete out where the gazebo once was, and built a gate.

(June 5, 2021)
The construction workers painted the roof.

Here are a few pictures of the windstorm destruction in a different area.
