18Corelet is bad but so is Hyper Threading if you have too many cores.
If you have 8C/8T or more, you are golden.
This video should help cover the 6c/6t scenario (since I never did in the past) and whenever its better or not than 4c/8t.
In my opinion 4c/8t is better as it supports basically all games that require more threads.

In the video, for 6c/12t, I always used "RPCS3 Scheduler" for consistency.
For games that perform better in 6c/6t than 6c/12t, I highly you encourage to try the game with RPCS3 Alternative Scheduler in the CPU Tab! Same rules apply to 8c/16t.
In the past, I did this personally with the 8700K in games like GoW3 and RDR gained an FPS boost.
Note: This option is only available for 6c/12t or 8c/16t CPUs or higher.
