RPG in a Box - Free Movement Door Mechanic
Even though free movement still has a long way to go, here's a fun and simple door mechanic you can play around with!
Create a key item and object model (with passable enabled), then a script that gives the item to the player via "Give Item" and removes the entity from the map via "Remove Entity". In the Voxel Editor, assign this as the default script for the "Character Collides" event. When placed into a map it will automatically behave like an item pickup!
Finally, create a generic door script that checks if the player has a key and, if so, removes the key and the door itself to allow the player to pass through.
