A little more demonstration of my RPG Maker 2000 project, "Timeless". This is showing I know how to do Event Battles and a little something I made up I like to call "Monster Panels".

Event Battles are simply unavoidable battles that happen when you step on a certain spot, kind of like in the original Final Fantasy. Of course, unlike in that game, once you finish an Event Battle on here, it won't happen again.

"Monster Panels" are kinda a unique creation of mine. Basically, you have the option to step on the panel to fight a powerful version (or in this case several) of a monster you're seeing in the dungeon you're currently in. If you win the battle, the monster drops a useful item and you get a nice EXP boost for the party. The Monster Panels early on aren't too intimidating, but they will get tougher as the game goes on. Of course, Monster Panels are completely optional to do.
