Rubik's Cube in 18.63 seconds (1st non-lucky sub 20)
My first non-lucky sub-20 second solve. My 3rd sub-20 second solve ever. Although non-lucky, there were 2 cubies already in place in the cross, and I made two moves before I realized I didn't start the timer, since I was excited this could be a record, so I undid them, put the cube back down, and restarted. But I don't believe this had any effect on my solve speed, since I'm not looking any further ahead than the cross.
I'm using a Da Yan2-GuHong cube, which is amazingly slippery. I often spin sides twice without wishing to, and often perform finger tricks on the wrong corners because centers will move easily if you don't hold them, and because it can cut corners like you won't believe. You can have the three layers almost off by an entire cubie and twist the middle and they all align. This cube is amazing.
The problem with this cube is that it is pre-lubed, and because my finger tricks aren't perfect, I often have cubies pop, which means I have to clean the lint and dust from them, since the lube makes everything stick. And then I have it all over my fingers, and then it gets all over the cube. Now the cube itself, the stickers, is slippery, making it VERY hard to use. I find myself slowing down to avoid disaster.
