Rusted Moss: Elicia 2 (Empowered) - No Hit
5Rusted Moss is one of my favorite Metroidvania games of all time, so I was absolutely thrilled to see that it was receiving one final content update. The areas that were added in this most recent update were fun, but the star of the show was the new Elicia boss fight that they added.
There was already a "superboss" in the game — that being Frøy, a character added in the "Great Climb" update — and that one is debatably more challenging to no-hit, but in my view, this is the best boss fight in Rusted Moss.
Like the player, Elicia 2 maneuvers around the arena with a grappling hook, and she does so at lightning speed. Couple this with her tricky means of attacking and you get a truly hectic duel between two acrobats that demands you to keep moving at all times, and I do mean at ALL times. There are plenty of fights in Rusted Moss that require the player to kite the boss around a large room, but I find this one to be by far the most engaging.
The Empowered version of the true Elicia fight places you in a smaller arena with a death pit at the bottom, meaning that losing your footing or missing a single grapple spells instant death in a no-hit challenge.
All of this combined results in a fast-paced, no-holds-barred grudge match with Elicia that's over in a blink of an eye.
