Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2023, the updated Freestyle projector bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor. Although its appearance has remained largely unchanged, the projector has been integrated with the latest software compatible with Samsung TVs.
This enhancement allows users to access the Gaming Hub as well as a number of cloud gaming services, including offerings from Xbox and Nvidia.
The audience was particularly interested in the function of intelligent smoothing of screen edges demonstrated at the exhibition. This innovation allowed two Freestyle projectors to be combined, resulting in a three-dimensional 150-inch (3.81 meter) image.
However, there is no mention of this feature in Samsung's official announcements. It reportedly failed to live up to expectations during testing, leading to its removal from the development process.
In essence, the Freestyle Gen 2 can be considered an improved version of its first model, albeit enriched with such important attributes as the Gaming Hub. Notably, Samsung also introduced a new Samsung SolarCell Remote to accompany the launch of the projector. Additionally, the company has extended a limited-time offer by giving first-time buyers a free protective projector case.
