I just finished beating Sonic Frontiers for the first time and I really enjoyed it. But I gotta say, as a newcomer to the Sonic series, I found the gameplay a bit fast. Regular Sonic fans seem to think the game is too slow but for Mario noobs like me, I feel the opposite. Going fast is satisfying in Sonic games, but I still like to take things slow and enjoy the surroundings. Luckily, Sans also likes taking things slow so the two of us are gonna team up to take down Cyberspace without boosting.

There are multiple functions for the boost button itself. It will only count as boosting if the boost meter goes down. This means the boost panels found across the world are fair game.
