A JRPG FAN

Though the story is very long I don't mind. This game is part visual novel I guess which is not really a bad thing but when I know what's going on and dialogue seems to be taking too long I just skip so I can move on faster and save. I recall in the later part of chapter one that I believe I had a 3-4 run before I could even save because the story is just too damn long. Well at least the story is long because sometimes some people complain some games story is short and they don't get their money's worth. At least you have the option to skip. I don't feel I really miss out match since I'm more after the battle system in this game, the new adventures, bosses to face and the aesthetics.

Combat gameplay is great. Really reminds me of Tales series. That sort of gameplay is what I'm really after which I always knew but get distracted because there a lot of other games I want to play. So thanks to SOA Alicization Lycoris I finally really really know what I want to play which is High speed high octane flashy combos action JRPGS. The combat has some of that Darksouls aspects where you have to commit to a move and the animation delays on a particular attack or skill. Like when you attack there is an input lag. No idea how that became common in games where everything seems delayed and weighty but luckily you can cancel out of it with a dodge, a jumping launching attack or a combat art. You just basically have to learn the flow of the combat and how you can cancel to another move and you're all set. You can also guard and time a parry which also adds depth to the combat but for me they were only useful in early game duels. As you progress you will have more options open to you during combat and that is really great for because I can do battles the way I want to when I want to most of the time unless it's 20 level higher boss. Yes you can take on higher level bosses and be rewarded with powerful gear which has no level requirements which is a great incentive for seeking out and trying to beat stronger bosses.

I also like visualize attire because I can look however I want without compromising my stats which is a very modern feature (IMO) action JRPGs should have these days. I can use whatever sword I want my character to and whatever clothing/armor I want my character to look like anytime which is really a huge plus feature. I recommend getting a day one copy that has the bonus DLC costume set.

Also, the game has online features which is great especially if you play with friends

I'm not a SAO fan but I'm an action JRPG fan so this is perfect for me. I recommend to get it if you're the same as me or if you are a SAO fan. If you want to try something new give this a shot on the PS4 PRO because I don't have experienced those game breaking issue like frame rate drops like others have on other platforms
