StarCraft 2 proxies can be hard to deal with. It is nice to know how to deal with them. if you can spot a proxy, you are less likely to die. In order to know how to scout, you have to understand how much money an opponent can use in the early game. This video we found out how much minerals and gas one SCV can make in a minute.

Below is my notes I took about economy. think of it as an economy guide. Understanding this, will help you know when a proxy is coming or not!

probe 12 seconds to create.
6 seconds with chrono boost
drone 12 seconds to create.
can create many at the same time
scv 12 seconds to create.
mule costs 50 energy.. 50 seconds of having orbital...does the work of about 4 scv's
mule 64 seconds 225 (about 210/min) minerals close or far, but close he drops minerals on the ground as he dies..sometimes..

46 seconds to mine 50 from close patch
55 seconds to mine 50 from far patch
an average of about 50 seconds to mine 50 minerals... about a mineral a second

what does this mean? 16 scv will make 16 minerals a second.. each base of 16 workers makes (16*60) = 960 minerals every minute
1 base 960 per min
2 base 1920 per min
3 base 2880 per min

this means we can do bit of math to see how many resources a starcraft player can use per minute.. Since workers mine 1 mineral / sec.
if we multiply by 60 seconds, we have how many minerals they can make in a minute. say for 1 base we have a total of 16 workers. multiply by 60 and TADAA 960.
We can follow this same idea for 2 bases, 3 bases ect...

something you may see...

example from terran opener
12 workers * 60 = 720 minerals per min
(time worked-time not worked - unit cost)
+(60-12(1) - 50) + (60 - 12(2) - 50) + (60-12(3) - 50) + (60-12(4) - 50) = 640 minerals if they don't build a THING besides workers(well you cant.. you need supply depots.)
640 - (21+100 time and money supply depot) - (46 + 150 time and money barracks) - (21 + 75 time and money gas) - (50 seconds travel time idle and finding different patches) = 177
60seconds / 12seconds = 5 workers 5*50 = 250

21 seconds to create a second gas...

(100/96 * 60) 62 gas per min
96 seconds for 1 to get 100 gas (96 seconds used) ... every 96 seconds, they are missing out on 96 minerals ...
1 / 1 ratio every 60 seconds, they are missing out on 60 minerals/min
(3*60 + 27) - (60+51)
3.27 - 1.51

(100/50 *60) 120 gas per min
50 seconds for 2 to get 100 gas (100 seconds used) ... every 50 seconds they are missing out on 100 minerals ...
1 / 2 ratio every 60 seconds, they are missing out on 120 minerals/min
(60+35) - 45 =
1.35 - 45
(100/38*60) = 156 gas per min
38 seconds for 3 to get 100 gas (114 seconds used) ... every 38 seconds, they are missing out on 114 minerals ...
1 / 3 ratio every 60 seconds, they are missing out on 180 minerals/min
(60*4 + 24) - (60*3 + 46)
4.24 -3.46

what this all means
1 full gas = 156 gas per min
2 full gas = 312 gas per min
3 full gas = 468 gas per min
4 full gas = 624 gas per min
5 full gas = 780 gas per min
6 full gas = 936 gas per min

EVERY SECOND THERE IS AN IDLE WORKER, you lose 1 mineral!
Idk about you but when I am on the ladder, it is sometimes easy to think that the opponent can do anything to you.. they cant. if we understand the limitations of how much they can spend,
how many production facilities they have, and how many gas geysers they have built on...
we can narrow down what they are going to do to us to kill us.
