I noticed that nobody as of 12/10/2010 had uploaded a video of the Smash and Grab mission where the Zerg base was annihilated (strange how this is not a feat of strength) so I decided to make this video for you all. The whole video is divided into 3 parts and contains the whole game from start to finish where I collect all four Protoss relics, destroy all Zerg buildings and destroy all Protoss buildings. Relevant stats about my character at this point include...
* Fully upgraded Marines and Medics
* Perdition Turret Researched
* Vanadium Plating Researched (Armor upgrades give additional 5% life per upgrade)
* Micro Filtering (allows SCV's to gather 5 Vespene gas per trip instead of 4)
If you do not have the Perdition Turret researched while tackling this level, you can still destroy the Zerg base by placing a row of Bunkers full of Marines instead of Turrets and Perdition Turrets. This method however is much harder and more expensive to maintain.
In order to stop the Zerg from destroying the Protoss base and grabbing the Artifact, you must assemble a large group of Marines, Medics, and Marauders and send them across the bridge near the entrance to the Protoss base. At a certain time in the game, a few incoming flying Zerg smash into the ground near the entrance to the Protoss base and contain all the units required to destroy the Protoss and grab the Artifact so simply stopping the Zerg attack waves from the Zerg base will not save the Protoss. This is why you must take your group and when the time is right, interrupt the Zerg attack force of Zerglings and Hydralisks before they reach the Stone Zealots. When this is complete, just keep a few marines patrolling the area between the former Protoss base and the Bunkers/Turrets you set up to avoid more attack waves flying in and there will no longer be a time component to the map. You are free to take as long as you want to attack the Zerg base.
