Very, very decent game.
Unfortunately, it went under the radar as a "Returnal" clone or something. Apart from some slight similarities in the initial premise, this is very far away from a game like "Returnal". "Scars Above" is not even a pure third person shooter. It's more like an action adventure game similar to the xbox360/ps3 era titles. There's certainly an old school design approach to it, that I really like. It has a third person creative combat, which I appreciate a lot. It's all about exploiting enemy weaknesses, doing elemental combos and using the environment. For example, if an enemy is wet it is easier to get them frozen and they take more damage from electricity. If an enemy is burning, shooting it with acid creates a "chemical combo" that deals massive damage. Stuff like that. Game wants you to be creative. I really like such designs! And, in this day and age, where every game is a roguelike or a soulslike, games like this are dearly missed. Thank god, they still make them!
Final difficulty is not that harder than medium. Overall, I found the game a bit on the easy side. It's, as I said, very solid, though.
So, if you are into such experiences, I highly suggest you try this game out. It's almost a hidden gem.
