Gone are the days of scientists processing data by hand. Scientific tools are rapidly scaling to meet the increasing demands of their users, both in terms of complexity and sheer volumes of data.
The Eclipse Science Working Group is made up of several companies and institutions colllaborating on forward-looking, open source scientific tools. This talk gives an overview of the projects of the Science Working Group. This includes the foundational projects for data structures (January), visualisations (Eclipse Advanced Visualisation Project), workflows (Triquetrum) and scripting (EASE). We also look at some of the rich, open-source scientific workbenches that are being used to advance science in their specific domains.
