"The ancient giants crafted incredible spells capable of living all on their own, without expending their magical power. These spells have survived for tens of thousands of years, buried deep beneath Stormreach — and also in a random Tower in Stormreach, if you want to get your Hunters — proving that the giants had way too much time on their hands."
Living spells and animated objects are two sides of the same coin, both being magically-born guardians that have no free will of their own and technically aren't alive in the strictest sense. One represents a vestige of magic, twisting the notion of reality and possibility itself by its very existence; the other is an oversized packing crate with a chip on its edge... err, shoulder.
And yet, somehow, these two items quintessentially represent D&D. The extremely fantastical and the whimsically stupid. DDO is more complete with both of them having been included as entries in the Monster Manual.
Kudos to you, developers, for keeping these extraordinary entities intact and interesting in DDO's lore!
