This is a world where large corporations control the world's resources and economy, and even countries and governments are controlled by corporate profits (money). The Earth is completely divided between the "upper class," approximately 1% of the population, and the "slaves," 99%. Naturally, the majority of humanity does not accept this situation and has begun to rebel against their rulers. Those who fight for justice and order (players) are labeled criminals and terrorists and sent to private prisons and correctional facilities owned by the corporations. To maintain their control, the upper class launched Project Island (sending prisoners to a prison island) at the global broadcasting company TEC1 as a measure to suppress rebellion. Their lives are broadcast worldwide as a TV show called "The Island," and the upper class enjoys watching. (The player is filmed by a drone camera that occasionally flies over.) Over the first 24 hours, most of the prisoners die, and the player must survive by escaping difficult situations and winning kills. The ultimate goal is to escape the island. This is a game where players can experience this.
