SDL, or the Simple DirectMedia Layer is one of the most important game development frameworks. Even if you use a different game engine, there is a good chance that the game engine you are using is in turn using SDL in some way! It provides all the low-level cross platform "stuff" that games need, such as graphics, window handling, audio, input and much more. SDL just released the long-awaited SDL 3.0 (technically SDL 3.2.0...) and it's loaded with new and modernized features.
