Seeed Studio and the Maker Movement in Shenzhen http://www.mobilegeeks.com The Maker Movement is a global one, but in China it's on a whole other level. Shenzhen is a global production capital and the makers of cheap and cheerful products are now looking to test the waters with something else. Seeed Studio is a maker space that has it's own production facility whose focus is rapid prototyping. They can make up to 10,000 pieces a day and when you get big enough and they can't handle your production they'll simply pass you on to Foxconn. If you're not familiar with Foxconn they are the Taiwanese company whose more famous client is Apple.
