Q: What is this?
A: It's just a mix of some SEGA arcade game tunes. Almost all of it from Model 3/NAOMI era titles with three Model 2 themes mixed in [even though two of them are Virtual On Force remixes].
Q: Where did the idea to do this come from?
A: This was actually something that I had started as an idea back in the second half of 2023, with the last draft being from December 2023, but I had never finished as I thought I had run into a brick wall regarding ideas for songs that could flow well into each other.
This was initially named [SEGA SKY SOUND SELECTION], but with how the tone shifted between the songs I had picked up until this point, I decided to change it to something that at least fits more with the general idea - although the reason I had started with that older name first was because of Shallow from SMF sounding perfect for a mix of such name.
Q: Why is it named Volume 0?
A: Because not only this is essentially something rescued from that small mix from 2023 and doesn't have any additions since [outside of adding the Goal theme from Scud Race to end it], but also I was split on whether I could call this a fully finished idea or not, knowing that there's room for a mix with more songs that can seamlessly fit each other.
At the end, the name is Volume 0 due to this [prototype/almost scrapped] nature of the mix you hear, as I decided to rescue it today when I saw the VEGAS project file, gave it a listen and thought [Oh wait, I shouldn't just discard this] when I saw I had taken the effort to do a few tweaks to some songs to time them better with transitions [slight speed ups and fade ins].
Another reason is because if I had named this Volume 1, then it may have implied to some that I have plans for a Volume 2...but at the time I don't have any plans to follow/expand on this idea yet.
Q: Source for the two pictures used?
A: Both are promotional artwork. First is for Scud Race/SEGA Super GT and second is for Gunblade NY.
