Sega GT Online - Green Castle Pass | CXBX | Ryzen 7 5800H | RTX 3070 140W | 1600p
Sega GT Online, runs decently well on CXBX, albeit graphics are somewhat buggy, and the sound's messy. I'm driving a Toyota MR2 Group S, over at the Green Castle Pass, at 3x native resolution.
Sega GT Online is Sega GT 2002, but with added Online features.
The game is a sweet racing simulator, that was originally being developed for Dreamcast, but got ported last minute to the XBox; underrated and underappreciated, 2002, was an impressive upgrade over the original, boasting an improved driving model, better 3D models, nicer shadows and reflections that are no longer made of static environment maps, but some form of tube mapping instead (Similarly to Gran Turismo 3 in 2001).
This new technique for reflections, eliminates the need for a car model, to have second, transparent, fully modeled one, sit on top of it; which means, those extra polygons, once wasted on a wonderful, yet inferior technique, could, instead, be spent on the regular model, improving its mesh ten fold.
Because the bias against anything Sega was very real, the series faded into obscurity.
