SEGA Management Slide Deck - Information on Legacy IP Returning
We got another round of info hitting the web pertaining to the legacy IP that Sega is in the process of reviving. Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Set Radio all got one new screen shot and a little blurb, so nothing major there. The big news is Sega's business plan in regard to the legacy IP and how they plan to utilize it going forward.
The plan, as laid out, is to continue to use the pillars of Sonic, Like a Dragon, and Persona to drive revenue. Build licensing deals and long lasting revenue streams with those proven franchises. While that is happening, Sega plans to go through their past IP and find candidates to bring back and possibly grow into more pillars of the company. The revenue and profits that Sonic, Like a Dragon, and Persona are bringing into Sega are allowing them to experiment, to find new pillars of revenue for the company. Legacy IP are key to Sega going forward, and are a part of the three year and five year plans. So expect to see more legacy work in the coming years.
Sounds like a pretty good idea to me!
Oh - Phantasy Star Online is also considered a pillar for Sega... :Thinking Face Emoji Here:
