Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Guardian Ape First Phase Stun Loop
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PC) - Guardian Ape

Forgive the framerate/stuttering. Wasn't like that during gameplay!
An easy way to trivialize this really quite intimidating boss phase, without using any items or prosthetic tools. I'm sure this has already been discovered somewhere, and it has no value for speedrunners, but I was a little proud that I found it myself. Honestly I'd like if it were patched out, this is a great fight (this phase in particular, it's better than the second), and it deserves to be as thrilling and hard to predict as possible.
I wonder why the stun state resets when being looped like this. It's supposed to happen in 3 phases with distinct damage thresholds, with the third ending in the Ape being knocked away from the player. In this loop, the first phase happens twice, leading to 4 phases if the loop doesn't continue. It's funny that even with this game's "posture" system, the old system of a hidden enemy poise value that determines when enemies flinch from attacks is still there as well, and still invisible. I have mixed feelings about that system and its obscurity, but the posture system is brilliant, I love it.
Also, this was done on New Game +1. Results could be different on a new game or higher NG cycles. Kuro's Charm and the Bell Demon don't alter it.
