The Northstars are a competitive women's roller derby team from Prince George, BC, Canada who play within the Rated PG Roller Derby league. We have recently finished our WFTDA (Womens Flat Track Derby Association) apprenticeship, achieving full WFTDA status! This is a big accomplishment for our league, and roller derby in the north. The Northstars have been invited to play in a WFTDA level tournament in Hilo, Hawaii, called the Big Island Brawl, from May 31 to June 3, 2018. Here we will have the opportunity to play against teams from Japan, California, Hawaii, and Alaska. As you can imagine, travel costs for a tournament this far are great. Flights and hotels alone represent an inhibitory cost to many of our players and refs. All of our skaters work or go to school full-time and many are mothers or caregivers, working out and training for roller derby in their spare time. We are asking for help and support to cover the costs of some of the travel expenses in order to ensure all of our skaters can attend the tournament!
