Setting up GTA SA (NOT) VR on Meta Quest (2 / Pro / 3)
36This is a how-to video tutorial for setting up and playing GTA SA (NOT) VR. Special thanks to my friend Rob for confirming it works on his Quest 2!
AKA: The PC version of GTA SA V1.0, with an FPS mod plus a few other quality enhancements, inside of your Meta Quest 2 / Meta Quest Pro / Meta Quest 3, with WinlatorXR to use your right controller gyro controls to aim in windowed mode, or your head angle in fullscreen to control the view
It gives a surprisingly close feeling to VR, but still is not-quite there of course! Very sad that the Meta Quest port seems to be discontinued
I haven't had much luck, but in theory you could use Reshade to render the game in SBS 3D, if you do that use the LEFT GRIP + RIGHT THUMB CLICK to trigger WinlatorXR to render in SBS mode (left half = left eye, right half = right eye) but do note this means you halve your resolution width per eye!
Note: As of September 2024 I use Turnip 24.1 + DXVK on Quest 2/Pro because it's faster but Quest 3 has a driver glitch right now using that setting, so you have to use the slower Turnip + WineD3D there instead, otherwise it should still work.
Update 2024/09/07: Another option to try on Quest 3 is VirGL plus WineD3D, try both to see what performs best per each game or app you use

2.) Copy these to the downloads folder of your Quest:
GTA SA V1.0 PC files (You must find these yourself sorry! You might be able to find a way to downgrade existing Steam copies to V1)
WinRAR Installer (Any modern version should work in WinlatorXR)
