In today's video we are taking a look at an ABB strategy using a double Ghost team. The two Ghost types being used in this video are Gengar and Shadow Banette, the lead Pokemon is Dewgong. The main goal behind this team is to swap out into Gengar and take shields, or lure out the hard counter to Ghost types. In most situations you are looking to lure out the Ground type or Normal/Flying type so that Dewgong can then farm. Ideally, this opens up the opportunity for Shadow Banette to sweep with shields down or a shield advantage.
Shadow Banette is a very spicy pick that is not often seen in GO Battle League. The main drawback to this Pokemon is not necessarily its lack of bulk, in fact this could be made up for with its high Attack stat. The main issue is the lack of a bait move. As a result of this, Banette has a hard time performing as either a lead Pokemon or a safe-switch. The lack of bulk makes it difficult to apply shield pressure without a bait move, thus it seems best suited for the closer role, once some shields have already been used in the battle.
Overall, this was one of the most fun teams I have ever assembled for GO Battle League. Shadow Banette is a glass cannon but it can threaten to sweep teams when it has an energy lead or shield advantage. The team itself operates in an ABB style but could run into issues due to the lack of bulk. It is a risky, but fun choice.
In this video we use a team consisting of: Dewgong (Ice Shard*, Water Pulse, Icy Wind*), Gengar (Shadow Claw, Shadow Punch*, Sludge Bomb) & Shadow Banette (Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball, Thunder).
