The dragon and demonic beings overrun the world shortly after Lo Wang accidentally releases an ancient dragon and almost wipes out global civilization. The failure of Wang to defeat the dragon has led him to isolate himself and wallowing in depression. Orochi Zilla, Wang's former nemesis, convinces him to continue fighting. Using the residual energy in Hoji's mask, the two of them attempt to defeat the dragon with Motoko's help. Motoko's ritual is interrupted when Hoji is revived, prompting Wang to disrupt it to save his friend. After asking Wang for help restoring his body, Hoji guides him toward a "Chi cannon", a device supposedly powerful enough to destroy the dragon. To become an all-powerful God, Hoji intends to drain the dragon's power with the cannon, unbeknownst to Wang. When Hoji underestimates the dragon, the cannon is swallowed by the animal.
Together with Zilla and Motoko, they defeat the dragon after confronting Hoji about his treachery. Wang sends Motoko's familiar, a tanuki, toward the dragon, intending to use it as explosive bait, but it fails to kill the dragon. Seeing no other options, Wang decides to jump into the dragon's mouth himself, where he activates Hoji's Chi cannon from the inside. Wang successfully kills the dragon with the cannon and manages to escape death with Hoji and Zilla's help. They later celebrate their victory over a meal with Motoko and the ghost of the tanuki.
