Shadows' Sonnet by ShadowBionics
2A sonnet I wrote in my time in high school when we were learning about them. My mom actually helped me write a few of these lines, mainly the part about the climb. It was written in a time when I was hopeful for finding love and meeting someone, not wanting to feel the pain of heartbreak anymore.
Now, however, I've more or less given up on all that, as I've gotten tired of the heartbreak and have lost a lot of the optimism I had.
Love can be cruel during a time in life.
It may seem difficult and at times sad,
Whether it affects a brother or wife,
Sometimes it can make you feel very mad.
Love can be such a cruel and strange mistress,
I want to believe I will always feel bliss,
I ought to quit now before the distress.
I wish that all would be right with just a kiss.
Even though I might feel some hurt and pain,
I want to love and be loved by someone.
I'd like to feel like a kiss can stop rain.
I'd like to feel like I have climbed and won.
In my life, it can fit just like a glove.
I want to feel the explosion of love.
