During the dead of night, if you looked towards the spire, you’d see her. A ghostly young Cookie, crying with tears as large as Jelly Peas. When she looks into your eyes, the clocks start ticking backwards! How frightening!

Of course, Blackberry Cookie could not spare enough time to feel fear from such tales. But as for the other Cookies working in the mansion? They had grown to fear sunset, breaking out into a cold sweat as the clocks chimed to welcome the evening. Such gossip was unbecoming of this establishment. Blackberry Cookie procured a candlestick and pocket watch. With a nod, she embarked towards the spire to uncover the source of this hoax.

Darkness had enveloped the sky. Blackberry Cookie patrolled through the spire, again and again. She glanced at the pocket watch- the hands began to tick backwards. She looked up once more and felt something.. A presence of a young soul. Blackberry Cookie nodded to herself and made way without hesitating. The sound of soft sniffling and crying echoed through the spire. Closer and closer she approached. And there she discovered the source of the sobbing. A small child with purple hair, attempting to hide herself from view behind a desk.

Many would have shrieked in horror or fled at the first chance. But not Blackberry Cookie. "Hello. May I ask who you are?” she asked with the softest and gentlest of whispers. The small Cookie peeked behind the desk. Tears ran down her cheeks as she gazed into Blackberry Cookie’s eyes.

“I’m.. I’m.. Onion Cookie. Are you ‘it?’ Why did it take you so long to find me..?” she inquired while gasping for breath between sobs.

“It is late. Everyone has gone to sleep.” Blackberry Cookie replied.

“I was.. *sniffle* playing hide-and-seek. But I fell asleep, and everyone was gone.. I was so scared! What if a ghost came to get me? WAA!”

Blackberry Cookie comforted the child, patting her back and wiping away the tears. To help Onion Cookie shush and stop crying, Blackberry Cookie sang a lullaby. She sang until Onion Cookie fell asleep, safe and sound. There was no need to tell her the truth. At least, not at this very moment. One day, she hoped, other Cookies would come to the spire and play with Onion Cookie once more.

Happy New Year Everyone!
