Hey all, today we’re bringing you a really cool Halo 3 100% MLG montage from Shele and Define.

I’ll start out with the gameplay; it was obviously really stellar. It harkens back to the golden years of H3 when the best MLG montages would feature gameplay against pros, and in this vid you’ll find quite a few plays against the biggest names in the game such as Snipedown. There’s even a few higher multis in there, along with some neat little clutch double kills and stuff like that.

Editing wise, this video is a bit of a mixed bag for me. It feels overwhelmingly like a video out of 2009 – overuse of twixtor and all. On the one hand, I think Define did a solid job of highlighting the clips and having decent enough flow and syncing. I always respect when editors try to push the boundaries and use their editing to make the clips more exciting, and to make their editing itself exciting as well. Define uses a lot of cool angles and effects throughout to highlight the most interesting parts of the clips. I also thought the design of the text used in the video was really creative and well done, and a nice break from the generic Element 3D text we see thrown into videos all too often.

I did think the color correction could have used some work. Halo really just doesn’t look good with bumped up saturation unless you’re really really careful with it, and the CC in this video came off looking pretty amateur-ish to me. Also, I’m sure this was probably YouTube’s fault somehow, or maybe I’m crazy and it’s just my computer, but a lot of the gun audio in this video felt off sync, which is a pretty big issue for me personally.

Overall this video has some really fantastic gameplay worth watching and I give Define big props for the obvious effort he put into the editing.
