Omn1science here again and today we're bringing you FN Killswitch's Reach MLG montage edited by King.
I actually really love the editing in this video. It manages to remain pretty relaxed and keeps the gameplay coherency while still feeling very fresh and innovative. The intro is pretty cool, featuring some well done angles. The one complaint I did have about the montage as a whole does show up here though as I think the 3D text was unnecessary and not particularly well done. I've probably ranted enough about the use of generic Element 3D text so I won't go into it too much here but I always prefer well done and original looking 2D text. The intro ends with a cool little sequence featuring some neat Plexus style text and then we're into the body.
The flow of this tage really stands out to me. King has always had really unique syncing structure, and he incorporates that really well here while maintaining a very on point flow. I especially enjoyed the little effects scattered throughout this video like the mid-clip transition at 1:01 and the grenade effect at 1:10. I thought the outro to the first song was also really well done, and I enjoyed King's integration of particles and light based effects to create a consistent mood in his angle sequences.
The second song starts similarly to the first, once again including some well done angles and a really cool effect to watch out for. The flow and syncing remains fully on point. The speed of the edit is a bit faster in this portion and its really well done. King utilizes cuts and subtle time remaps very effectively. The outro maintains the theme setup throughout the video, and really illustrates how cohesive this video is as a whole. King did a great job setting up a mood and sticking with it.
The gameplay is pretty good Reach MLG gameplay, featuring some neat clips like the 241 overkill at the start of the video and a nice killtacular at the end. Overall though I thought there were a lot of filler DMR cleanup clips and Killswitch probably should have saved up clips for a bit longer before he tried to have a two song montage made. The gameplay is still good enough to be worth watching though and is definitely very enjoyable.
Overall this is a very undernoticed tage that definitely earns a watch from its excellent editing and enjoyable gameplay.
