Michael Clever, é um investigador que vive em uma pacata cidade, certo dia ele recebeu uma correspondência informando-o que seu ex-companheiro de investigação está morto e enterrado no cemitério da cidade, então ele decidi ir visitar seu tumulo, porém no caminho ele é atacado por capangas mascarados.

Depois de conseguir escapar dos capangas, ele recebe um bilhete misterioso alertando-o que NEM TUDO É O QUE PARECE... E que ele precisa encontrar, por si só, os novos bilhetes deixados por esta pessoa misteriosa em diferentes pontos da cidade para assim montar o quebra-cabeças e descobrir quem deseja sua morte.
