Cover Notes/Commentary
Oh baby, the 6,666 subscriber special everyone's been waiting for! A huge thank you to every single one of you who liked, subscribed, commented, and shared my video over the years, especially the ones who've been huge supporters since I started doing video game covers all the way back in 2013.

This cover had been in the works for well over a year, almost around the same time I started work on the Boss Battle cover. I had no idea how to arrange it at the time since the transition from the intro to the main riff was so abrupt, it felt like two songs awkwardly spliced together.

Luckily both my younger brothers, both DJs, would blast EDM every time I'd visit home. This gave me an idea to attempt to make an EDM-inspired arrangement, not so much in the soundscape (though there was an attempt, my skills with a synth are, sadly, rather limited), but in the arrangement and flow, such as builds and drops. This turned out to be not only one of my most frustrating, but also most enjoyable covers to produce as it got me really out of my comfort zone.

The performances were intentionally gridded as to make a really industrial/robotic/electronic-feeling arrangement. The drums have a really dubstep-ish tone to them, meshing both natural and electronic tones, the electronics are equally meshed with the guitars, which took on a more sonic texture roll, rather than being very upfront and in your face. It's equally compressed and brick-walled as it is dynamic in the softer sections. The vocals were also drowned in effects to get rid of any naturalness. If Footsteps of Time and Counterfeit Phantom were my most challenging arrangements to date, the complexity of this arrangement ups those by a country mile. Fun fact: the amount of tracks bounced for mixing was 80.

Speaking of vocals, the lyrics were an insane effort to decode, and I'm still not confident I got it right. There's so much disagreement of which was the right version, I just went with what was mostly agreed on by people who attempted to figure it out. From what I've found, all of SMT3's "lyrics" were "quoted" (to what extent, no one knows) from the Book of Revelations, but they don't actually have direct interplay with the game's plot (I think Meguro-sensei said they sounded cool and intense, but I could be totally wrong with this. Let me know in the comments). I'll let you all battle it out in the comments, but an attempt was made and what's done is done (no, I did not read the entirety of the Book of Revelations to check):

For what it's worth, I thought my vocal performance was cool and intense, even if the lyrics were "wrong"? I dunno anymore.
