So, uhh...Yeah. I recommend the show. Kind of stupid to suggest otherwise. Generally, I am positive about it. Even if it doesn't seem like it. I am just much better at being a whiny bitch. It's just that I spent a while contemplating why I was enamored with it at first and then something changed, imperceptibly.

The first few episodes setup what happens later, but early this setup doesn't make any sense, and as such easily ignored when forming an opinion. However all the "fish out of water" and cultural shock, like the death of a gardener, that stuff was brilliant and I loved it. But then what follows is a lot less of it and instead of having largely separate storylines, it's just one. And...weird it is to say, "Shogun" storyline is simply weaker than the the "Anjin" one. And the video goes more into why.

I did read that it's based on a book from the 70s, assuming there are rare changes , so perhaps it's the source material that I have problem with. But I don't have the patience to go into that too, if I am perfectly honest. Maybe when I've got a kindle or something. Reading a book off a PC screen is torture.
