Phantasmagoria was released on August 24, 1995, and was a landmark game for its use of high-fidelity rotoscoping in its marriage of live action characters and CG environments. A horror experience eight-years in the making, written by visionary game developer and co-founder of Sierra On-Line, Roberta Williams in a return to her horror-mystery roots from the early days creating Mystery House.
It tells the story of novelist Adrienne Delaney, played by Victoria Morsell, and her photographer husband Don Gordon, played by David Homb, having freshly moved into a mysterious old, abandoned mansion in New England, formerly owned by purported "magician", Zoltan Carnovasch, played by Robert Miano. As Adrienne explores her new home, looking for inspiration for her next novel, she gets more than she bargained for, as she is beset by nightmares, and slowly uncovers the dark secrets behind the deaths of the old magician's five wives...
