Silent Sharpshooter | WolfenDoom - Blade of Agony 3.0 | Part 3
It was a bit of a lost potential that you didn't need to wait for a thunder before firing a shot to clear the path to the first large building. I'm reminded of things like Hitman where waiting for the right moment before shooting really gives you that satisfying feeling of discretionary execution.
Though now that I think about it, I've completely no clue if such a thing could be done in the G/ZDoom engine. Probably a particularly arduous task, not to mention if they wanted this to be as approachable to as many people as possible (which I suspect is why there's so many bloody hints and markers in the first place). Thunders do have a habit of not giving a lot of time before you can act.
