In 1996, Simon Rex, then a fresh-faced VJ for MTV, found himself in an unforgettable situationâone that heâd later recount with a mix of humor and embarrassment. Fresh off hosting an event, Rex was offered some marijuana by his boss, who assured him that his work for the day was done. Thinking it was time to unwind, Rex accepted the offer and got high. Little did he know, his day was far from over.
Just as Rex began to settle into his altered state, word came through that Tupac Shakur had arrived at the event. Tupac, one of the most electrifying and unpredictable figures in hip-hop, was there for an interview. And, as fate would have it, the responsibility of conducting that interview fell squarely on the shoulders of a stoned Simon Rex.
