Bistek Tagalog is a classic Filipino dish made of thinly sliced beef
braised in a mixture of citrus juice (more commonly, the local fruit, calamansi),soy sauce, onions, garlic, and pepper.
A delicious medley of salty, tangy, and savory flavors,
it’s traditionally served with steamed rice.
1/2-kilogram Chuck Steak (thinly sliced)
Sugar 1 tsp
4 pcs calamansi/lemon
1 tsp ground pepper
½ cup oil
½ cup Soy Sauce
2 pcs large onion
4 cloves garlic(minced)
1.Combine garlic, calamansi juice (or lemon and orange juices), soy sauce, sugar, and ground pepper in a medium bowl.
2.Add beef and toss to coat. set aside or refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours.
3.Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. add beef, Cook, until no longer red, about 2 minutes.
4.In the same fan add onion and cook, stirring, until soft and lightly browned, about 6 minutes. Add the reserved marinade
5.Add the meat, cook stir for 1 to 2 minutes.
Serve hot, over rice if desired.
