Singularity | When storylines in video games used to be good
I have only recently started playing the game and I can already say that the storyline is amazing. The game offers a fair amount of customisations/upgrades to primary weapons as well as secondary devices like the Time Manipulation Device (TMD).
The primary weapons have a beautiful design. I was particularly impressed by the sniper rifle (not used in this video) that allows you to slow time while using scope, just like Sniper Elite games (although it only works for some time). Other guns are amazing as well. I was disappointed by the revolver (centurion) and the Shotgun (Volk S4), that don’t come in handy that often.
The TMD can actually be used to perform a wide variety of tasks, like generating an impulse, lifting objects using anti-gravity and sending object forward and backwards in time. The game offers a horror post-apocalyptic setup in present and allows you to time travel back and forth between present and past using singularity time rifts. However, the best part of the game is the storyline where you, as a US soldier are required to find out what happened on Katorga-12, an island used by the Soviet Union for secret science experiments. During the communist era, scientists were brainwashed and/or forced to work on projects that would allow the communist regime to take over the planet. Needless to say, there were many failed experiments and this game, just like many other games, draws from a fictional failed nuclear experiment. I don’t want to add spoilers, so I won’t add much to the description.
