Situational awarness is the mark of drivers with great race craft. We all can think of examples even in Formula 1 of drivers who are super quick in quali and race pace but are prone to crashing once they are wheel to wheel. In this example from one of my Formula 4 races, I have a car to my left and three cars ahead (one of which is spinning to the right), so I know my only option is to keep the wheel dead straight with a little lift on the throttle for safety.
