Your K2 gear has arrived and it’s time to make sure your new boots fit properly! First thing you want to do is get a good pair of ski socks. A thin, proper fitting sock designed for skiing is the best choice here. Any extra fabric in your boots could lead to an uncomfortable fit. Feel free to reach out if you need advice on sock choice.
Next step, completely unbuckle both boots. Your skier should be standing up when putting on the boots. It often helps to give them a shoulder or chair to help with balance. You can also help them slip on their boots by pulling up on the tongue as they slide their foot in, which usually helps release a little pressure. The first time your skier puts their foot in their new boots, it will likely feel tight right off the bat. We need to buckle them up before properly assessing fit.
Start with the top buckles and work your way down. Lower buckles on the forefoot can remain relatively loose, while upper buckles should be tight around the lower leg and ankle. It’s important during this process to try to get the skier’s heel as far back into the heel pocket of the boot as possible. When fully buckled, have your skier stand up and bend their knees. Get into a skiing position, hands up in front, ready to go! The boots should feel snug, but not uncomfortable. Remember, a new boot is going to be the tightest right out of the box and will break in after a few ski days.
If the boots feel good, great! You’re ready to watch our Safety Video to confirm sizes and binding settings, then you’ll be ready to hit the slopes! If you’re concerned they may be too small or too big, contact our customer service team and we can help determine if you need another size.
Have fun out there!
