ghost cog bug got fixed in the V3.3.3 patch

You can force the Boiler to skip his turn when transitioning from Defense Mode to Offense Mode
With the current "Ghost Cog" bug where a Cog is revived from Pay Raise after it should have died, you can actually manipulate this to prevent the Boiler from doing anything before he transitions back into Offense Mode.

This is a bit of a complicated setup on paper since it relies on pre-existing status conditions and proper timing, but in practice it can be pretty easy to set up as long as the Boiler's AI cooperates. Due to this, you could easily exploit a round of the battle to set up for whatever you want at no risk (as he can't ban a track you might be using next turn.)

*Steps to replicate*
1a. The Boiler must use Pay Raise on a Cog that's on the field during Defense Mode.
1b. Use a 2 Star Damage or Healing remote on any Cog that is on the field with Pay Raise if it's already applied. If it's not already applied, you can still remote control any Cog, you just have to hope that the Boiler heals the same Cog you're targeting. This remote must deal enough recoil damage to normally kill the cog once it expires. (Easiest on Level 8 or lower Cogs w/o Damage Resistance, 7 or lower otherwise.)
The reason for a 2 Star damage remote instead of 1 or 3 is due to how many turns it takes. You can probably make 1 star remotes work, but they need a lot more setup and are much weaker. This is easier with 2 Star remotes.
2. If the remote controlled Cog does not have enough HP to outright die to the recoil damage, then you need to weaken it enough to do so. If Pay Raise is already applied and the Cog is a higher level than 7 or 8 depending on active buffs, then you'll have to outdamage the heals which makes this a lot harder to set up.
3. Wait until the final round of Defense Mode. On that round, you need to kill every remaining Cog on the field via either Damage Remote, Gags, or both. The remote recoil will kick in by this turn.
4. Once remote recoil kicks in, the cog will "die" but revive in battle as a Ghost Cog. You'll see it on the HUD but cannot interact with it. Future Defense Modes will also account for it, spawning only 3 cogs at a time.
5. As long as all of the other cogs died, the Boiler will skip its turn and transition into Offense Mode.

Due to how the Boiler's AI works in Defense Mode as of the recent update, it's more likely that it will opt to give buffs or heals to Cogs on the field, making this a pretty easy exploit to setup.
