Today we expose the utter incompetence of Skyrim's Court Wizards, these supposed magic users who somehow landed jobs in the highest levels of Nord government! From Windhelm's shady necromancer, Wuunferth the Unliving, who gets caught up in a murder investigation, to Riften's scatterbrained Bosmer, Wylandriah, who's more obsessed with her research (and possibly Greenmote) than actually doing her job, these N'Wahs are a joke. Then there's Farengar Secret-Fire of Whiterun, conveniently researching dragons just as they reappear, and sending the Dragonborn on pointless fetch quests. Solitude's Sybille Stentor? A vampire, naturally, involved in shady dealings and sleeping on the job, later replaced by Melaran, who doesn't sell any spells. Markarth's Calcelmo is a Dwemer-obsessed Altmer with too many quests tied to him, including a pointless spider hunt and an odd interest in the Nord Housecarl Faleen. Finally, Dawnstar's Madena is almost too competent, aware of the dangers of Mehrunes Dagon and lacking any quest involvement. These fools prove that barbaric Nord "culture" and magical skill are like oil and water.
