Previously, Davilas discovered the secrets buried deep in Bleak Falls Barrow near Riverwood, including a word of power and a quest item called the Dragonstone. After returning the Golden Claw to Lucan in Riverwood, he traveled north to Whiterun, the capital of Whiterun Hold. Now, he will report the dragon shenanigans to the hold's ruler, Jarl Balgruuf, for the quest "Before the Storm".

Entering Dragonsreach, the palace in Whiterun, Davilas approaches Jarl Balgruuf. After a scene, the Jarl rewards Davilas with some armor. The story quest "Before the Storm" ends, and a new one begins: "Bleak Falls Barrow". Jarl Balgruuf asks Davilas to carry out a task for his court wizard, Farengar.

Over in the wizard's office, Farengar asks Davilas to explore Bleak Falls Barrow and find the Dragonstone. Well, well! Davilas already has it! When he turns it over, the quest "Bleak Falls Barrow" is completed, and the player earns the trophy "Bleak Falls Barrow".

The next story quest, "Dragon Rising", begins right away. Davilas must speak to the Jarl, but before he can, the Jarl's housecarl, Irileth, arrives with reports of a dragon sighting nearby. It has been seen near Whiterun's western watchtower. Balgruuf assigns Irileth and Davilas to fight the dragon. Before Davilas leaves, Balgruuf gives him some more gear.

Davilas follows Irileth out of Whiterun to the Western Watchtower, down the western road past Whiterun Stables. He must meet her at a target location east of the watchtower.

When they arrive at the Western Watchtower, the dragon Mirmulnir attacks! It's hard to hit in the air, but it is an easy target when it lands.

When it dies, Davilas absorbs a Dragon Soul from it, and he learns the Unrelenting Force shout. Also, the player earns the trophy "Dragon Soul" for absorbing the first Dragon Soul.

The guards believe that the protagonist is something called a Dragonborn. There is an optional objective now to demonstrate the Unrelenting Force shout. After this, Davilas must report back to Jarl Balgruuf.

However, on the way back to Whiterun, Davilas hears a shout from the tall, snowy mountain to the east! It said, "Dovahkiin". What could that be about?

Back in Dragonsreach, a scene plays as Davilas approaches Jarl Balgruuf. Davilas reports on what happened. This ends" Dragon Rising" and starts the next quest, "The Way of the Voice". As the Dragonborn, he is capable of using shouts, which are actually quite powerful. The voice that Davilas heard came from the Greybeards, who seem to be summoning him to High Hrothgar. Along the way, he will have to stop at the village of Ivarstead. Jarl Balgruuf names Davilas a Thane of Whiterun and assigns him a housecarl named Lydia.

Before Davilas leaves, there are plenty of sidequests to take care of in Whiterun. He will get started on them next time.

Thanks for watching!
