Slime Rancher is a first-person indie life simulation game that features an explorative open world. It is developed and published by Monomi Park. You play as Beatrix LeBeau, a rancher who moves to a distant planet in order to become a slime rancher. The gameplay consists of using your VacPack to suck up different slimes and deposit them in corrals around your farm. You need to feed them so that they give you plorts which are considered currency in the game. If you put two different types of slimes in one corral, they may transform into a new slime. The different slimes eat different things and also give different plorts. Some slimes may need some extra care, such as tinted corral to protect them from the sun. There are several upgrades to the corrals such as an auto-feeder, plort collector, and even taller walls to keep pesky slimes from jumping out. You can also keep chickens in a pen for carnivorous slimes, or grow crops for slimes that prefer fruits and veggies. The game rewards exploration by giving the player better and rarer slimes to find along with new breeds of chickens and different fruits and veggies. Some slimes can hurt the player, so you'll have to be careful when around them and watch your health. If you lose all your health you lose a lot of in-game time, which is not good for any rancher.
