Slinki is a great game to learn from. Whether you are a gamer or a dev, you could stand to learn a lot. There are a ton of things responsible for making a great game, but that being said, there are only a hand-full of things you really have to do, because depending on the game and the audience most of the cool tricks of the trade can just be left out. 1 is controls. In a platformer there is no "if's, and's, or but's" you have to have solid controls. If you are porting to a console, you have to think about performance, and if that console has a standard layout, you may want to adapt. Seriously, I hope the dev keeps working hard, but I also hope people watch this before spending $5 on it.
