SMB: The Lost Levels (NES) World 9-1 (Mario Game)
This is the World 9-1 Level from Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
This is an extremely strange case in bonus features. If you complete every level of every world by the time you reach the end of the game, you will be treated with the pleasure of playing through World 9. This means you will miss out on it if you used warps. Apparently, Shigeru Miyamoto was fascinated by the Minus World glitch on the Famicom version of Super Mario Bros. It apparently creates a similar effect where the game loads a land stage with underwater physics. As a bonus, they added World 9 to mimic those effects.
There isn't really much to do in this level. So many things meant for land break while underwater. You can't bounce off of enemies, Bullet Bills won't fire from cannons, you can't even get the items inside Question Blocks. Luckily I finished the game with a Fire Flower, so I was able to shoot most of the enemies except for the Buzzy Beetles who are immune. I imagine this level would be pretty boring if you had no Fire Flower. All that would be left to do is make it to the end of the level. At least the Flag Pole works underwater.
