My good old SNES my family has had since launch, is finally on its way out.

It's a bit sobering to think that one day, they will all deteriorate like this. They cannot last forever. ICs are not immune to aging.

I wonder if, in due course, Nintendo would be willing to do a limited reproduction of these old systems. The cartridges will likely outlast the consoles themselves, since they see less use.

Anyway, guess I'm gonna be on the market for a "new" SNES soon.

At least the console seems to work for everything else still.
