Even though this game is using beautiful cryengine the overall look for this game isn't that good and that is because CI Games didn't have the money and time to bake in the global illumination.
What this means you pretty much don't get shadows in game.
However with SSRTGI shader this problem gets mostly fixed, the game looks so much better but yes it has a huge performance hit but still the game looks way better.
